My husband and I met Judy & Fred in Italy, 2015 and became fast friends. Judy has touched our lives up here in WI in so many ways, including our Sunday evening Oasis where neighbors gather in our cul-de-sac to chat. We´ve even been seen huddled around a fire pit in the dead of winter. All thanks to Judy sharing part of her life with us. Need I even mention her dry sense humor? It brings a smile to my face every time I think of it.
Our heart goes out to Fred, Amanda, Carol and all who had the wonderful pleasure of knowing Judy. May she rest in peace.

What can one say about someone whose life said it all? She accomplished so much in her quiet, soothing way. Judy will be remembered by her friends, co-workers and acquaintances far and wide. What a dear friend, neighbor, client, lovely person admired by all who knew her.

As everyone else has said, Judy did so much for so many. Despite her travels and many roles, she was always willing to find a way to fit in one more role if asked. When I took on the position of Executive Director at Better Health, she embraced me openly. She trusted me, guided me, and answered my many, many questions. I am sure it was not easy to hand over an organization she had poured her blood, sweat and tears into. And yet, she put her faith and support into me, and encouraged me to make it my own. She was absolutely vital in my success there, but more importantly, to the organization and the thousands of people in need that it has served.
I enjoyed chatting with her and asking her thoughts. While I am stunned and heartbroken for Amanda, Fred and Stephen, I am grateful to Judy for her years of support.
Amanda, I remember training with her years ago, literally a stranger, and how warmly she spoke of you when she told me about her family. You, your brother, your dad and nephews were her world. I pray for peace for you all at this devastating time.

I was so very sorry to learn of the loss of this beautiful, funny woman. I first came to know and appreciate Judy when she was at the helm of Better Health. I saw firsthand the good work that Judy and this organization did in the community, kind of 'under the radar,' but that was Judy. I then had the privilege of serving with her on the Networth Scholarship Committee which she chaired for many years. She had such a great heart! Rest well, my friend. Heaven's gain is our loss.

Judy's church family at St. John's is shocked by her sudden passing. It's hard to imagine activities at St. John's without Judy at the center; she was a true servant of God and we will deeply miss her. Our hearts go out to her family, especially Fred and Amanda. We are aching for you.

Beautiful Judy,

It is unbelievable that you have gone to your heavenly home. Our community was richly blessed to have you pouring out your gifts into the lives of others.

I met you in May of 2015 during a panel interview for Connections of Cumberland County and was grateful that you were one of the board´s directors. I looked up to you so much. When the position became overwhelming for me, I considered resigning in June of 2017. I reached out to you and you met me at The Coffee Cup. I let out my concerns and cried a lot. You listened without judgement. You encouraged and empowered me. Over the next year and a half, you became my advocate as I continued to quirk my way through my executive leadership experience. I became more confident and began to spread my wings. Even though I was rough around the edges, you accepted me for who I was and saw my potential from the beginning.

When you agreed to serve as board president in July 2019, I was so eager to partner with you in your new role and learn from your wealth of knowledge from your service as Executive Director for Better Health. When it was time for me to journey along, I called you and before I could get my words out, you spoke. "You´re leaving us aren´t you?" I shared with you my reasons why and you had compassion for me as I struggled with my decision. You always handled me with motherly care, even in correction that helped me grow.

During my last few days at Connections, you brought me a butterfly bush. "This is for our butterfly." I can hear your voice now. I will never forget the kindness, grace and mercy you extended to me, the patience you showed during my leadership growing pains, your coaching, your love for your family and friends, your faith in God, your love for those in need, your service to our community, your hearty laugh and beautiful smile. Every time a butterfly visits, I will be forever reminded of your gentle, loving spirit.

Praying for your precious family and friends as they endure your absence in this human experience... Father please mend their shattered hearts and replace their mourning with joy as they celebrate the life of their beautiful Judy...

With gratitude,

Crystal Bennett
