Mark Stickle Obituary

ASHEBORO - Mark Harrison Stickle Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior early Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, after a valiant battle with leukemia. He was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Washington, D.C. He was 54 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilmer Franklin Stickle Jr. and Christina Somerville Stickle; sister, Christina Pearce; and mother-in-law, Ruby S. Winslow. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Winslow Stickle; sons, Mark Harrison Stickle Jr. and wife Amanda of Archdale, and Robert Worth Stickle of Randleman; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stickle of Wilmington; grandsons, Carter and Caleb Stickle of Randleman; brothers, Frank Stickle and wife Karen of Centreville, Va., and Bob Stickle of Asheboro; sister, Carolyn Stickle Koser of Asheboro; father-in-law, Pastor Leslie N. Winslow; brothers-in-law, Worth Winslow and wife Nada of Asheboro, and Pete Pearce and wife Caroline of Greensboro; and numerous extended family members. Mark was a graduate of St. James School in Hagerstown, Md., and Guilford College in Greensboro. He lived with his wife and their family in Fayetteville for 21 years. He was a partner in an executive search firm for many years, and started his own business, Stickle and Associates Inc., in the early 1990s so he could be more active with his children. He and his family moved to Asheboro in 2000. Mark will be sorely missed by his family, many friends, Bible study group, shooting aficionados and best buddy Rembrandt. He was an amazing husband, loving father and Pe-Pa to Carter and Caleb. Mark's strong faith in God and positive attitude endeared him to his doctors and nursing staff at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. His family truly appreciates their heroic and compassionate efforts on his behalf. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Central United Methodist Church on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. with a visitation period afterward in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church Debt Retirement Fund, 300 S. Main St., Asheboro, NC 27203, or Be the Match bone marrow registry at bethematch.org. Arrangements by Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, and online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.

My condolences to all of Mark's family. We worked together in Fayetteville 30 years ago. I lost touch with him but remember his smile and how energetic he was. May the Lord keep you in His hands.

I just found out about Mark's passing. Even though Mark was 4 years behind me at Guilford College, we became friends after his graduation.
When Mark and Mary moved to Fayetteville, I was on the road and spent time with he and his family on several occasions.
Mark was a rue family man who loved his wife and children very much.
It is sad to hear but also a time to rejoice that he is now with Christ and is in no more pain.
May God give the family peace at this time.

Mark was my brother and was one of the best and bravest men I have ever known. He was a great husband and father and a man of high moral character. He had a great zest for life, lived it to the fullest and was a great guy to be around. I will carry him close in my heart forever.

I was saddened to hear of Mark's passing and offer my heartfelt condolences to his wife and children. While growing up I spent more time with Frank since we were about the same age and lived close to one another. When we were very young we spent time as an extended family down at Somervilla. I always thought Mark was one of the nicest kids around and there wasn't a mean bone in his body. In recent years Uncle Tom has kept me informed about Mark. It certainly sounds like the little kid I knew growing up turned out to be a pretty terrific person who helped alot of people and made a difference. Andy
