Nancy Matricia Obituary

NEW RICHMOND - Nancy Jo Lucus Matricia age 72, of rural New Richmond, died at 9:48 a.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Lafayette on December 3, 1939 daughter of the late George and Maxine Rinehart Lucus. On August 16, 1958 in Lafayette, she married Robert J. Matricia who survives.
Nancy Jo graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School with the class of 1957. Following their marriage, she and Bob moved to the New Richmond area where she was actively involved in assisting on the farm. She also had worked for the Houston Company in Crawfordsville.
She had been active with OES, member of St. Paul Community Church, was a Blue Coat volunteer at Indiana Veterans Home, where she enjoyed attending and taking veterans to church, she received a 20 year appreciation award for her work there.
Her greatest love was her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed farming, watching the Hummingbirds, fishing, reading and camping with family and friends.
Surviving along with her husband are, two daughters: Barb Matricia of Lafayette and Beth (Jay –deceased) Parrish of Attica. Two sons: Bryan (Dianna) Matricia of Linden and Gary (Kayuri) Matricia of Monticello. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother Butch Lucus and son-in-law Jay Parrish.
Funeral services were held at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. October 25 with Pastors Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall and Mary Hollis officiating. Burial followed in New Richmond Cemetery. Memorial contributions to American Cancer Society.

Bobby, so sorry to hear of your great loss. I have many memories of time you and Nancy spent with Daddy & Mom (Jack & Rose Dawson) playing cards when we lived in New Richmond. I always looked up to Nancy, she was such a great person.
