Violet R. Hatcher, 75, of Napoleon passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born June 1, 1940, in Liberty Center to the late Merl and Boneta (Winover) Church. On May 9, 1970, she married Richard C. Hatcher in Napoleon, and he preceded her in death.
Violet was a homemaker, and was employed at Tenneco for a number of years, then became a licensed state day care provider. She took care of many children in her home and enjoyed them all. Some of them still were in contact with her after she retired in 1995. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and feeding all her great goodies to her family. She gardened and loved her rhubarb and cucumber patches. She looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also had two special pets she adored, Peppy and Buffy. Violet was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Napoleon.
She is survived by her loving children, Dale (Lisa Yackee) Hatcher and Heidi (Larry) Hatcher-Moore, both of Napoleon; grandchildren, Cassie Beck, Logan Hatcher, Randi Hatcher, and M.J. Moore; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Lydia, Triston, Keegan, Brianna, and Aaron; and a sister, Susan (James) Downs of Defiance.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Orma Church, Eileen Hanker, and Mary Swayne; a brother, Marvin Church; and two infant siblings.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, with Pastor Tom Polker officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services.
