Delores Pitas Obituary
MADISON-Delores M. Pitas, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Dec. 28, 2014. She was born on Oct. 11, 1928, at home in Dotyville, daughter of Irvin and Vera (Jannusch) Mueller. Delores graduated from a one-room school, completed Goodrich High School, and then attended Oshkosh Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Arthur Pitas on June 18, 1949. They had a marriage full of laughter while raising their four children. Delores was active at the council level in Girl Scouts. She was also very involved in leadership roles at her church.
Delores is survived by her children, Alan Arthur (Mary) Pitas, Andrew Arthur (Jan) Pitas, Lauraine Emily (John Gaska) Sanford, and John Arthur (Holly) Pitas; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Pitas, Demitrios (Kala) Pitas, Katrina Pitas, Nikolaos (Amy) Pitas, Alexander (Zoe) Pitas, Chance Sanford, Chelsey Sanford, Tianna Pitas, Mikos Pitas, and Chandler Sanford; one great-grandchild, Max Pitas; and brother, Melvin (Betty) Mueller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and brothers, Forest, Earl, and LaVern.
A Celebration of Delores' Life will be held at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, with the Rev. Carly Kuntz officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Delores' name may be made to First United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to staff at Sylvan Crossings and her friends at First United Methodist Church.
