Gertrude Dushek Obituary
Gertrude "Trudy" Dushek, 87, of Oshkosh, passed away January 16, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh.
She was born May 24, 1925 to Herman and Caroline Descov Hackbarth in Waupun, WI.
At the age of two she went to live with cousins Anton and Gertrude Spies and was adopted by them in 1943.
On May 17, 1947 she married Robert Dushek of Portage. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1991.
Trudy was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. She served on the church council and was dining room chairman for twelve years. She and her husband were chairpersons of the maintenance and kitchen committee for several years. She was manager of Presidential Court Apartments in North Fond du Lac for 31 years.
She was active in scouting, serving as Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Leader.
Trudy is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Melvin) Pittman of Plum City, WI; three sons: Lawrence (Paulette) Dushek of Lakeville, MN, Lenoard (Susan) Dushek of Milwaukee, WI and Dennis (Veronica) Dushek of Green Bay, WI; eight grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Harris, Troia Pittman, Adam (Laura) Pittman, Matthew (Kristi) Dushek, Sarah (Scott) Melin, Jana (Dan) Draeger, Eric and Ryan Dushek; one great grandson Kyle Harris and three great granddaughters: Jenna Harris, Kaylin Dushek and Chelsea Draeger and two brothers: Edward and Anton Hackbarth of California. Trudy is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by four sisters: Marie, Bernice, Caroline and Lora and three brothers: Herman, Richard and George.
Visitation: Trudy's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday January 20, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac.
Services: Funeral Services for Trudy will be held on Sunday January 20, 2013 at Zacherl Funeral Home at 4:00 pm.
