Gregory Halverson Obituary
Gregory "Greg" H. Halverson, 78, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
Greg was born on Aug. 12, 1932, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of the now late Clement and Amy (Harstad) Halverson.
After graduation from high school, Greg enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Korean War.
On June 14, 1969, he married the former Julie McElvain in Milwaukee, and the couple enjoyed over 42 years together.
Greg started his first job in sales and held various positions in a long and distinguished career, before retiring as a District Sales Manager from Moorman's Manufacturing after 17 years.
In his retirement, Greg found a way to stay busy by working as a volunteer Red Cross driver and a floral delivery driver for Flowerama.
Greg was also very handy when it came to woodworking and carpentry, as well as creating beautiful landscape sceneries. He also loved to pack up the RV and take trips with Julie.
Greg was very active in the community and always gave freely of his time to many organizations and his church.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his children, Hal Halverson, Ken Halverson, Patrick Halverson, all of Green Bay, Debbie (Robb) Whitaker, David Halverson and Dennis Halverson, all of California; five grandchildren, Ron Boucher, Xavier and Kaya Elysse Halverson, Laura and Rachel Whitaker; two sis- ters and one brother-in-law, Diane (Maynard) Hovden and Barbara Gerum. He is further survived by numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Donnie Gerum.
SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison St., Green Bay.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established in his name.
