Isabelle Gorman Obituary

Gorman, Isabelle E.

Isabelle E. (Musial) Gorman, 94 of Fond du Lac and Milwaukee, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1922 in Jane, MN (Pennington County), the daughter of Andrew and Anna Skorska Musial. On September 30, 1939 she married Richard F. Gorman who preceded her in death on June 26, 1988. She was employed by J.W. Speaker Company during WWII, then worked for American Paper and Lace, followed by a 25 year career with American Can Company, where she continued as an active member of the retirement club. With her husband, Richard they owned and operated Colony Coffee Shops located at 35th and National, 27th and National, and 42nd and North Avenue. They also owned and operated Gorman's Golf Driving Ranges on Blue Mound Road and Pennsylvania Avenue near the airport.

She was a 25 year volunteer at the Fond du Lac Senior Center where she worked in the gift shop, a member of the Historic River West Community in Milwaukee, and a member of Holy Family Parish. An avid fan of sports, she enjoyed watching the Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and college sports. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, gardening, fishing and trips to the casino. She loved to travel and took great pride in introducing her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to her friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Elizabeth (Kimball) Norman of McKinney, TX and Gail Patricia (Dennis) Laufenberg of Iron Ridge; one daughter-in-law, Donna Gorman of Menomonee Falls; ten grandchildren, Richard (Kim) Gorman, Michael Gorman, Daniel Gorman, Cheryl (Kurt) Ettlinger, Kimball (Anne Yowell) Norman Jr., Harold (Jamie) Norman, Grant (Dee Allen) Norman, Douglas (Missy) Laufenberg, Ann Laufenberg, and Neal (Courtney) Laufenberg; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Tony (Dorothy) Musial of Ventura, CA; one sister, Veronica Day of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dennis; one great grandchild, Samantha Gorman; brothers and sisters.

The family held a private service honoring Isabelle's life.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Agnesian Hospice and Lakeview Place for their care and compassion given to Isabelle and her family.
