Jonathan Tauer Obituary

Jonathan David Tauer, 34, formerly of Oma (Hurley) Wis., died unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at his home in Fond du Lac surrounded by family and friends.

Jonathan was born Jan. 1, 1978, in Ashland, WI, son of David and Billi (Galarno) Tauer from Oma, WI.

Jonathan attended grade school at Roosevelt School in Montreal, and graduated from the Hurley K-12 School in 1996. He attended Mesabi Range Community College for one year after graduation, and then completed the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Training Program.

Through his life, Jonathan wore many hats. During his high school years he worked for JET Construction in Bessemer, MI, Bert's Gas Station, and Town & Country Liquor in Hurley, WI, and James River in Ashland, WI. After completing the Corrections Training Program he worked at the Waupun Correctional Facility, and later transferred to the Dodge Correctional Facility in Wisconsin where he was currently employed as a sergeant.

He married Deb Jackson on Oct. 11, 2003, in Ironwood, MI.

Surviving is his wife and the love of his life, Deb. His parents, Dave and Billi (Galarno) Tauer, his grandparents, William (Bill) & Charlotte (Youngs) Galarno, his sisters, Tammy (Kyle) Thompson of Gurney, WI, Randi (Jesse) Jackson of Ironwood, MI, and his twin brother, Jereme Tauer of Hurley, WI. nephews and neice: Anthony (Ashley) Thompson, Ironwood, MI, Kyle Thompson Jr., Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Serena and Jereme Jr. Tauer, Hurley, WI. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jonathan was preceded in death by Joseph and Leona Tauer from Bessemer, MI, a niece, Bree Tauer from Hurley, WI and a cousin who was his best friend, Nathan LaFortune (Vandal) from Gurney, WI.

Jonathan was a person who could get along with everyone, he was the life of the party and always ready for anything. If you were having a bad day he could bring a smile to your face. He had many close friends that meant the world to him. His passion for his wife and family was stronger than words could ever express. He will be in our hearts forever and we will miss him every day. Jonathan's favorite place was the hunting camp in Hurley, WI. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, lake fishing, golfing, camping, and sometimes staying at home with his wife, inviting friends over and playing games.

SERVICES: Out of respect for Jonathan's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life will be held at Jackson's Bakery (La Panetteria) 202 S. Sophie St., Bessemer, MI, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday January 26, 2012.

The Range Funeral Service & Crematory of Bessemer and Ironwood, MI, and Mach Funeral Chapel of Fond du Lac, WI, are assisting the family with arrangements.
