Judith Flasch Obituary

Flasch, Judith Ann "Judy"

On May 12, 2016 we lost a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. At the age of 70, surrounded by her loved ones at home, she was reunited with her parents.

Judy was born April 20, 1946 to Ervin J. and Mildred M. (Julka) Pauly. She spent her childhood in Peebles, graduating from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1964. She then relocated to Milwaukee to attend the Spencerian Business College.

Upon her return to Fond du Lac, she began working at Well's Manufacturing Corporation. She then met her future husband Tom, and although he will tell you it was love at first sight, she would say, "not so much…". They married on November 26, 1966 at St. Peter's Church in St. Peter. When Judy's children were born, she took time away from her career to raise her young family. After her children were in school, she went back to work at Well's where she enjoyed a long and rewarding career, retiring in 2013.

Above all else, Judy enjoyed spending time with her family. She never missed a school or sporting event while her kids were growing up. Always happiest when surrounded by her family, she loved the chaos that went along with a holiday and hosting a party. Her excellent cooking was only ever eclipsed by her knack for never having enough mashed potatoes or serving a dish while hot. Sadly, Judy would not have the chance to see her 50th wedding anniversary this November, but she cherished the 51 years spent by the side of her loving husband.

An avid golfer, Judy knew that course management was more important than hitting the ball long, allowing her to beat nearly every opponent she played. She loved her flower gardens and all of the work that came along with them. She found pleasure in "people watching" and making new friends. She was a friend, confidant, and mentor to many who knew her and we all aspire to be more like her. There were so many wonderful traits to choose from; whether it was the classy way she carried herself and dressed, the way she could light up a room with her brilliant smile, her wicked sense of humor, her patience, gentleness and her unwavering grace and strength.

Those cherishing Judy's memory are her husband, Thomas Flasch, daughter Kimberly (Brian) Westby, son Andrew (Missi) Flasch; seven grandchildren Courtney (Mitchell) Bonkowski, Erik (Courteney Flaherty) Westby, Jeffrey (Michaela Olson) Westby, Max Flasch, Belle Flasch, Benjamin Flasch, and Henry Flasch; two sisters Linda (Steve) Underwood, Ellen (Ted) Gross; a brother Doug Pauly; her mother-in-law Ruth Flasch; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, and a brother-in-law Jim Cowan.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM, Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Ave. in Fond du Lac. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of services. Cremation has taken place.

Judy's wish is that in lieu of flowers for her service, please consider a donation to the Agnesian Cancer Center so that they may continue their incredible work and assist someone in need along a difficult road. Judy and her family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Jones, Lisa Michels, APNP, all of the wonderful chemo nurses, as well as Carrie, Julie, and the other nurses and staff at Agnesian Hospice for their superb care and support provided to each of us during her journey - may your great work continue and God bless.
