He was born on July 18, 1929, the oldest child of Arthur and Grace (Affeldt) Schneider in Shiocton, WI. He was baptized into faith at First Ev. They had two children, Sara and Steven, and Leon worked for many years as a truck driver for Pfiefer Trucking and later JLP Trucking Company, retiring in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Doris; four children, Cheryl (Daniel) Harding of New Richmond, WI, Terry (Vicki) Schneider of Oshkosh, Sara (Kevin) Krueger of Kekoskee, and Steven (Sara) Schneider of Omro; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Rondeau, Brenna (Wes) Joachim, Alyssa (Jared) McDonald, Lindsy and Matthew Schneider, Kavanaugh Krueger, and Hunter and Grant Schneider; three step-grandchildren, Grace, Reagan and Eli Kropp; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jenna Rondeau, and Sawyer and Kennedy Joachim. He is further survived by two sisters, Betty Priebe of New London and Joyce Taylor of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Dennis (Ann) Schneider of Hortonville; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd (Lola) Lechner of Kekoskee; numerous nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elva; a sister, Kathy; three brothers, Robert, Ronnie, and David; and a brother-in-law, Leslie Springmire.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 606 Forest Avenue, Fond du Lac.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. James Borgwardt officiating. Burial will follow in Kekoskee Cemetery, in Kekoskee.

Fondly remembering Leon a year since he left us...

Winter 2012 visit to Milwaukee

April 27, 2018

My most sincere and heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Leon. He, Dorie, and the entire family will be in my prayers. I still have very fond memories of Leon and Dorie, Barb Wild, and Lloyd and Lola Lechner coming down to Milwaukee to visit my Mom, Bernice M. "Skip" Nielsen (whom we very sadly lost earlier this year). Both Skip and I truly enjoyed spending time with such special people. Again, I'm so very sorry for this loss. Tom Nielsen
