Lester G. Wollerman

Fond du Lac - Lester G. Wollerman, 95, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital.

He was born on January 11, 1926, in the Town of Empire, the son of Frank and Sadie Willis Wollerman. He was a member of the United States Navy, serving as a torpedoman's mate on the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid, in the South Pacific for three years during WW II. On July 12, 1947, he married Dorothy L. Gantner at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on December 30, 1997.

Lester was a charter member of Luther Memorial Church. He was a dairy farmer, in the Town of Empire, his entire life. He was a Milwaukee Milk Producer Board Member, and was on the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. He enjoyed bowling. In August of 2010, Lester was able to go on the Old Glory Flight to Washington DC and was also able to visit the Intrepid.

He is survived by his children: Alan (Bonnie) Wollerman, Carol (Gary) Sonnentag, and David (Judy) Wollerman; his grandchildren: Paul (Laura) Wollerman and their children Austin and Ayden, Kelly (Scott) Johnson and their children Amber and Evan, Steve (Deb) Abel and their children Nathan, Rachel and Sabrina, Bill Abel, Christine (Jerry) Engle and their children Max and Aaron, Rebecca (fiancé Jerry Berger)Wightman and her children Brooke and Jacob, Pat (Amy) Wollerman and Shelly Wollerman; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Wollerman and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edwin Wollerman and his sister Pearl (Donald) Becker.

Private visitation and funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Luther Memorial Church, with Rev. Rob Sauers officiating. Entombment to follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Ledgeview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Luther Memorial Church or Winnebago Lutheran Academy.

Lester was a great friend to my mom Alice Smith. He was full of energy and enjoyed a good stiff drink, but most of all was there for mom. Rest in Peace, Lester!

We consider ourselves lucky to say we lived across the street from Lester for over 20 years and feel we probably got to spend more time with him than most. Whether it be a long conversation, a short chat at the mailbox, or a simple toot and a wave as he drove by, he always brought a smile to our faces. Always up on the neighborhood "gossip". Christmas was never complete till we had our celebration of old fashions, cashews, and Family Feud. In the more recent years, it also included endless games of solitaire on his tablet. And a complete show and tell of all his Christmas cards showing off his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. No matter what life threw at him, he just got back up and kept right on going. What a sight to see him walking down the road with his walker with his little flags attached.! He was such a huge part of our lives. We will miss him dearly. I know if there were no old fashions in Heaven, there will be now! Our condolences go out to everyone who knew him. He truly was a wonderful man.

Always Looking Forward (Sitting on His Porch ) waving as we went by. Stop to Visit and Have a Beer ! get the local news, seeing him at rummage sales, who got the better find ?? was it FREE !!
