Marjorie Dilling Obituary

Dilling, Marjorie

On Thursday, May 30, 2013, Marjorie Dilling found eternal peace surrounded by her family at Woodland Senior Park, where she and her husband, Stanley, resided for the past two years.

She was born to Louis E. and Frances A. Rucks Anderson, the youngest of three children, on January 13, 1925, on what was formerly known as Hamilton Hill, where she resided for most of her life.

Marjorie graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1942. After graduation, she worked for the U.S. Employment Agency until her marriage to Stanley G. Dilling on June 29, 1946. In the years after her marriage, while raising their two children, she was the bookkeeper and parts chaser for her father's auto repair business, Anderson Garage. Stanley and Marjorie took over the business in 1960 and sold it in 1986 to their son.

She loved spending time with family. Stan and Marjorie were avid campers and many of their summer camping trips included their grandchildren in their younger years. Marjorie was a member of Owen Gromme Bird Watching Club for many years. Her early morning trips were one of her favorite things to do. She enjoyed knitting and the Friday night card games for many years.

Marjorie was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and an original member of the church bell choir.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley, the loving mother of daughter, Nancy (Gerry) Schmitz and their children: Sue (Rob) Freund (their children: Johnny, Drew, Ryan, and Kyle), Alan (Julie) Schmitz (their children: Sam, Bennett, and Christopher), Elizabeth (Rick) Acord (their son, Jacob), loving mother of son, Bruce (Carol) Dilling and their children: Brooke (Nick) Gerber (their children: Reese and Hank), and Andrew Dilling (special friend, Dana Dolezalek). She is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Caroline Dilling and Patricia Dilling; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold (Ruth) Anderson; a sister, Dorothy (Ray) Olm; three brothers-in-law: Milton, Robert, and Earl Dilling; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Blonigen.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on June 5, 2013, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 North Marr Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Michael Morning officiating.

The family will receive family and friends at a dinner reception immediately following the service and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Generations Hospice, Covenant United Methodist Church, or the charity of one's choice.

Words alone cannot express the gratitude the Dilling family has for the staff at Generations Hospice and Woodlands Senior Park.

Sorry for your loss, I was just wondering about them the other day.I remember them coming into McDonalds and as soon as we saw them walk in the door we would let the grill people know so they could start making it. We truly missed them both

My thoughts and prayers are with Stan, Nancy, and Bruce and their families. I remember good times with Marge, Stan, Nancy and Bruce had with my family as I was growing up ... 64+ years ago! Those annual trips on "Black Friday" to Milwaukee with Marge, Nancy, my mom and I and, introducing the Dillings to camping at JW Wells State Park in the U.P. Good times ... lots of laughter ... and lots of stories and jokes! Knowing, Marge, she's probably sharing one of those jokes with my dad in heaven around a campfire. She will be missed!
