Obituary of Doris Jean Smith Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book WATERLOO - Doris Jean (Mollenkopf) Smith, 75, passed away peacefully Saturday (September 27, 2025) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday (October 12th) from 12pm to 3pm at the Seneca Falls Country Club, 2790 Route 89, Seneca Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waterloo Library & Historical Society, 31 E Williams St, Waterloo, NY 13165. Doris was born August 12, 1950 in Geneva, NY, the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Evelyn Smith Mollenkopf, Sr. She was a graduate of Romulus High School in 1969 and received an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Office Technology in 1971 from Community College of the Finger Lakes. After graduating from college, she started working at The First National Bank of Waterloo. Doris then stayed at home for 16 years to raise her children and eventually went back to work for the Waterloo Central School District as a Transportation Clerk. After a few years, she went to work for the USDA, Farm Service Agency in Seneca Falls and eventually transferred to Canandaigua, NY as a Program Technician. She also worked part time at the Seneca Falls-Waterloo Wal-Mart for 25 years as a door greeter. Doris loved catching up with the customers. Doris was a member of the Waterloo American Legion Auxiliary Post #0435 since 1977 and a lifetime member of the VFW. Doris' talents were many; she loved to bake, crochet, sew and make crafts/attend craft classes. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family. Spending time with her family was very important to her. Doris will be missed by many as one of her strongest traits was being a conversationalist as she loved to chat with everyone. Doris is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edwin John Smith, Jr. of Waterloo, NY; daughter Jennifer Smith of Waterloo, NY; sons Bradley (Tanya) Smith of Waterloo, NY, and Jonathan (Jennifer) Smith of Seneca Falls, NY; brothers David (Deborah) Mollenkopf of Romulus, NY and Charles (April) Mollenkopf, Jr. of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren Tyler (Sadye-Anne), Isabella and Sophia; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her 2 grand pups, Ruby Mae and Sammie Sue. She was predeceased by her parents; and sisters Betty Weber and Donna Parish. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Doris Smith, please visit Tribute Store
