Frances Barry Obituary
Frances M. Barry, 92, of Oswego, passed away on November 2, 2025, with her loving daughter by her side.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Undheim) Matott.
Frances graduated from Oswego High School and worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone for and Sears and Roebucks for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States. She especially loved Hawaii and Alaska, and wintering in their home in Florida. Frances enjoyed spending time tending to her gardens, and could bake a delicious apple pie. She treasured her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Michelle M. Barry of Fayetteville, her brother Edward (Kathy) Matott of Oswego, her sister Pat Beshures, her sister-in-law Edith Matott, and her daughter-in-law Lisa Barry. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Brian Barry, Michael Barry, Lauren Barry, Nicole Barry, and Jacob Barry, great-granddaughter Davina, several special nieces and nephews, especially Terri Goodness, and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Barry in 2023, her son David J. Barry in 2022, her brother and sister-in-law, George (Mary Ellen) Matott, brother Jack Matott, sister Mary Ellen (Ron) Tesoriero, and brother-in-law George Beshures.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to caregivers Michelle, Elaine, Haley, Bambi, and special friends Valerie O'Neil, Deb Rathbun, and Deb Regan. Also, Mary and Joe, for all they have done for my parents throughout the years. They are great neighbors and great friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am at Christ the Good Shepherd on Saturday, November 8th. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Food Bank of CNY, or to Hospice of CNY.
