Joseph W. Poole

JOSEPH WILLIAM POOLE, 72, passed away peacefully at Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, on September 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Lloyd and Antoinette Poole, he grew up in Geneva. Growing up he was very involved in Boy Scouts Troop 8, achieving the honor of Eagle Scout. Joe received a BS degree in computer science from Bowling Green State University in 1974, a MA degree in project management from Webster University in 1976, and in 1983 he received a MS degree in aeronautical engineering from Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. After graduating from Bowling Green, Joe served 20 years in the United States Navy as a Fighter Pilot, and he taught Aeronautical Engineering at the Annapolis Naval Academy. After retirement from the Navy, Joe lived in Honolulu Hawaii for many years and was the Senior Vice President of Operations for Hawaiiana Property Management Company. Joe was an adventurer. He mapped and road-tripped the Lewis and Clark expedition as well as the Oregon trail. He clocked 169,000 miles crisscrossing America in 4 years. He loved life and he loved Geneva and was completely happy living his final retirement years in Geneva. Joe was predeceased by both of his loving parents and his brother, Lloyd (Bud) Poole. Joe became a "Gold Star Father" when he lost his son, Alexander, in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Khalil Poole, with whom he enjoyed 27 wonderful years, his son, Nicholas (Yasemin) Poole, of Seattle Washington, Leandra (Manny) Aguilar, of San Antonio, Texas, his grandson, Luca Leandro Aguilar, his brother Thomas (Faith) Poole, his sister, Elizabeth Poole, his sister Sharon Poole O'Hanlon, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
