He was born in Winchendon, on Nov. 27, 1926, the son of the late Albert and the late Doris (Gendron) LaFond.
He grew up in Winchendon until he was 16 and he then moved to Leominster.
Mr. LaFond served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, upon his return from the service he completed his high school education and graduated from Leominster High School.
Mr. LaFond was employed at the MART Bus Company for many years, retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church, a member of the Fitchburg American Legion and was a former member and past president of the Leominster Eagles.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Lorraine P.(Lamoureux) LaFond; three daughters, Lynn L. Malanson of Westford, Joan P. Pantano of Leominster, Jane A. LaFond of Leominster; one son, Mark A. LaFond of Fitchburg; one sister, Lorraine Gould of Michigan; one step brother, Peter J. O’Grady of Calif.; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
LAFOND -- A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the M.A. Simard and Son Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Lung Association 61 Broadway, 6th Floor, NY, NY 10006 or to the ARC of North Central, 564 Main St. Fitchburg, MA. 01420.
