Andres Serrano Obituary

Andres Serrano, 66, of 35 Day St., died on Sunday, Oct. 28, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

Andres was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the son of Faustino Serrano and Iluminada Soto. He lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., for many years before moving to Fitchburg seven years ago. While in New York, he was employed as a taxi driver and then as a chef.

Andres leaves his wife of 25 years, Florence Ramos of Fitchburg; his daughters, Rosa Rivera of Alaska and Norma Ramos of Fitchburg; his brother, Tato Serrano of New York; his sisters, Nilda Serrano, Elva Serrano and Ana Serrano, all of New York; his grandchildren, Maribel Torres, Michele Velez, Samuel Velez of Alaska, Ida Ramos, Gabriel Alvarez and Sergio Alvarez, of Fitchburg; his great-grandchildren, Destinee Liston, Jazmyn Torres, Alaya Harford-Velez, Bella Rosa Velez and Arianna Torres, all of Alaska. He also leaves his cousins, Nilda Serrano, Elva Serrano and Ana Serrano, all of New York; his sons-in-law, Leonardo Espinal, Melvin Torres, Joshua Harford and Gabriel Alvarez, all of Brooklyn.

SERRANO -- A funeral Mass is being held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 63 Sheridan St. Burial in St. Bernard Cemetery. Calling hours were Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., is assisting the family.
