Andrew Boucher Obituary

Gardner

Andrew N. Boucher, 50, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, December 6, 2021, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

Born in Gardner on April 29, 1971, he was the son of Normand L. and Priscilla T. (Ares) Boucher of Gardner. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1989 and received an Associates of Science Degree in Mortuary Sciences of the New England Institute at Mount Ida College, Newton, MA, with the Class of 1991.

Andrew was an Owner and Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., for more than 30 years, working alongside his father, Normand, and, more recently, his nephew Jacob. His professional passion always assured the families he assisted had whatever they needed during their difficult times.

During his career, Andrew was the recipient of many awards for his business professionalism, civic engagement, and community involvement. In 2002, Andrew was selected by the Worcester Business Journal as a Top 40 Business Professional Under the Age of 40 in the Greater Worcester County Area. In 2003, the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association recognized Andrew for his volunteer service with the New York City Medical Examiner's Office following the September 11, 2001 attacks. In 2014, Andrew was selected by the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce as its Citizen of the Year.

Andrew was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner. He was a member of the Board of Directors and Vice Chief Governance Officer of the GFA Federal Credit Union, member of the Patient/Family Advisory Committee for Heywood Hospital, and a member and six-term past President of the Acadien Social Club and its Acadien Jeepers Group, Gardner Ale House Mug Club, Chair City Club, and more recently a member of the Williams- Rockwell Educational Gift Fund all of Gardner. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Andrew was a former member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club, Inc., former Chairman of the Board of Directors for GVNA Healthcare, Inc., former President of Gardner Square II, former member of St. Paul's Parochial School Consortium, past Director of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, and past member, past Director, and past President of the Gardner Rotary Club, where he represented Gardner's club as an ambassador to Germany for a month in the early 2000's.

Andrew enjoyed going Jeeping, golfing, ten pin bowling, target shooting, and was an avid fan of all New England sports teams. He loved traveling to various places around the world, visiting Iceland, Ireland, London, Germany, and many more. Andrew took great pride in co-founding the Gardner Festival Committee and helping to organize the Gardner Chair Luge every year during Oktoberfest. His greatest enjoyment in life was his family and friends, cherishing every minute they got to spend together. He was the "Fun Uncle" of all his nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
