David Marchant Obituary

Westminster

David Peter Marchant went home to be with his Heavenly Father Friday, December 2, 2022.

David was born March 16, 1935, the son of Albert and Jennie (Anderson) Marchant of Fitchburg. He was brother to Irene, Louise, Elizabeth, Nancy, Norma, Edith, and Robert.

Dave graduated from Lunenburg High School as president of the class of 1952.

After serving his country in the Navy, he returned to Massachusetts to raise his family: Jennie (Lori), Douglas, Susan, and Thomas. He became "Papa" to 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was much loved "Uncle Dave" to many nieces and nephews.

Dave retired from Crocker Technical Paper Co. after 50 years of service and management.

Dave enjoyed sports, pitching softball for the Napoleon Club, and helping them win the state championship in 1963.

He was a generous donor through various charitable organizations and was thrilled in individually giving anonymous gifts.

Dave loved music, playing his trumpet and leading worship at the Assembly of God church in Fitchburg where his family attended since his childhood. His passion in life was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible, which was evident as he taught the adult Sunday School class. He exemplified the verse "He who was forgiven much, loves much." His love for the Lord was infectious!

David will be laid to rest in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. A Celebration of Life will be held in January.

"Papa" was a great man who will be missed by many! I'll never forget the great dinners at "Papa's latest favorite seafood restaurant" when Lauren & I would come in town.

Worked at CTP with Dave for almost 20 years. One of his famous work quotes:"make hay while the sunshines"! Sorry.

So sorry for your loss Doug. I have many fond memories of your Dad rounding us little kids up for another game of baseball. I appreciate your father giving all that time to us, as it sounds like he did for many others throughout his life. Special memories! My prayers go out to you and the whole family.
