Lunenburg

Edward W. Alleva, Sr, 92, passed away on December 6, 2021 at the Highlands after a short illness.

Ed was Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. September 2, 1929, the son of Louis and Rose (Piscopo) Alleva and lived in Brooklyn until moving to Fitchburg in 1953.

Ed was educated in Brooklyn NY and joined the Army in 1951 serving two years in Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Ed was employed by the N.E. Telephone and Telegraph Co. from 1953 and retiring in 1991 after 38 years as a telephone technician. He was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers. Ed was an active member of the Wachusett Barnstormers Association in Gardner and loved building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters. He had been an active member of St. Boniface Church for many years where he served as a member of the Finance Committee, the Bishops Fund for 30 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister and in the choir.

Ed was married for 59 years to Eileen (O'Connell) Alleva who passed in 2012. He leaves his daughter and son in law, Karen and Matt Johnson of Lunenburg with whom he resided. He also leaves a son Edward Alleva, Jr. of Fitchburg and his partner Mary Haggerty; four grandchildren, Adam Johnson and his wife Rebecca of New Hampshire, Luke Johnson of St. John's Seminary, Brighton, Gabrielle Alleva and Michael Alleva, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Joseph Albergo and his wife Georgia of Bay Shore NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Ann Baker.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 10, 2021 from 9:30-10:30AM in The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St. Fitchburg. A funeral Mass will follow at 11AM in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 33 Mechanic St. Fitchburg. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 12PM in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Turkey Hill Lions Club, PO Box 316, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
