Frances Mary Addorisio (Fran), 67, a resident of Rye, NH and Venice, FI for many years, died peacefully on August 14, 2021 at her home with her loving wife Nancy Stone by her side. Fran was born October 13, 1953, in Fitchburg MA. Fran was the youngest daughter of the late Frank and Mary Addorisio. Fran's love for her family ran deep in the Italian tradition of Fitchburg.
Fran graduated from Keene State College in 1975 where she majored in Physical Education and was a member of the Varsity Volleyball and Softball Teams. Following graduation, Fran spent the next 34 years teaching in a variety of school settings as a Physical Education teacher, coach, mentor and volleyball official. Her career began in Londonderry Junior High School for a year before moving onto Goffstown Junior/Senior High School. Fran then spent 11 years as a very successful teacher and coach, coaching the Goffstown Grizzlies Girls Softball Team to 7 tournament appearances, which included three state finals winning a State Title in 1982. Following Goffstown, Fran moved to teach and coach at Exeter High School for the next six years. She led the Lady Bluehawks Softball Team appearing in the state tournament each of the years she coached. In 1993, Fran decided that teaching elementary school students was her next passion. She completed her career at Lincoln and Main Street School in Exeter, NH, retiring in 2009.
Fran's professional accomplishments ran deep and beyond high school coaching as she also coached the New Hampshire College Women's Division il Volleyball Team. Fran was a highly respected NH volleyball official serving on the NH Executive Board and the Volleyball Rules Interpreter Committee.
As a result of her continued commitment to the game of volleyball, Fran was honored by the John R. Clark Officials Award. In softball, Fran served on the NH Interscholastic Athletic Association Softball Committee for many years. In 2007, Fran received the highest honor by being inducted into the NHIAA Hall of Fame for her achievements and dedication to student athletes of New Hampshire.
In the course of Fran's distinguished career and life, she accomplished many feats. Whatever Fran did, she did with high energy and laughter. As an educator and coach, Fran impacted many lives of young female athletes. To this day, many talk of how their lives were forever changed by crossing her path. Each of her athletes would describe Fran as "tough" but fair. Fran loved the work she did with young people and felt the importance of creating teachable moments.
Fran worked hard and played hard climbing mountains, x-country skiing, biking great distances, playing golf, playing a mean game of pickle ball winning multiple gold medals and traveling the world with her devoted wife and adventure partner, Nancy. Fran traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Machu Picchu, Africa, Ireland, and the Caribbean Islands. Fran's love of life and friendships ran deep as evident in many evenings of good food, wine and laughter. Fran is survived by her beloved wife Nancy Stone who spent 23 wonderful years together in love and adventure.
She is also survived by her three loving sisters, RoseAnne Addorisio, Connie Ayles and her husband Fred, Lorraine Taylor and her husband J. Robert, nieces Lisa Ayles, and Julanne Bullard, nephews Robert Ayles, Steven Ayles and his wife Dawn-Marie, Colton Bullard, Chandler Bullard, five great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
