Mr. Marceau was born in Fitchburg on Jan. 5, 1943, a son of Eugene and Elsie (Ouelette) Marceau and was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg.
He worked 28 years as a color mixer at the former Vogue Wallpaper Manufacturing Company in Fitchburg, retiring in 2005. During the 1980s he served as the union president. Prior to that he worked at Decatone Company in Fitchburg and during the 1970s worked several years as a self-employed contractor.
Mr. Marceau was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and had served as an usher. He served his county in the United States Army Reserves. Many years ago he was a member of the St. Joseph’s Cadet Drum & Bugle Corps. He enjoyed working in his yard, listening to music, traveling, cooking and history. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his new puppy, “Lady.”
Mr. Marceau is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra C. (Leger) Marceau; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Melinda Marceau of Westminster; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine K. and John Donohue of Fitchburg; a sister, Arline Thompson of Roanoke, Va. He also leaves six grandchildren, Donald R. Marceau Jr., Ryan Marceau, Nicholas Marceau, Justin Marceau, Shawn Paul Donohue and Caitlin Donohue. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Marceau and Bernice Gagnon.
MARCEAU -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. Please see www.isabellefuneral.com for additional information. Sorry to hear of Francis passing.
It has been many years since I have seen Francis . Although I have lived away, I will all ways remember him as I was growing up on Plymouth St as a friend and a great guy.
