Georgette Champagne Obituary
Georgette J. (Boisse) Champagne, age 93, of Fitchburg, MA and formerly of Barefoot Bay, FL, sadly passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023.
She was born in South Ashburnham, MA, on November 3, 1930 to Edward and Antoinette (Cayer) Boisse.
Georgette was married to her husband, Robert Champagne for 71 years until his passing on January 10, 2021. Georgette and Bob enjoyed spending their retirement in Barefoot Bay, FL and traveling. They were the typical "snowbirds" always wanting to be in the warm sunshine. She often talked about some of her favorite vacations going on cruises to the Caribbeans and touring Alaska and Arizona. Although, her best travel memories came from taking many of their grandchildren camping and to Canada in the summer.
Georgette was most often found crafting; knitting, crocheting, canvas needlepoint, and quilting were some of her specialties. She was always happy to make socks and mittens for the whole family. She also was an avid gardener, starting all her crops from seeds. Her green thumb could make anything grow, where she would then pass it along for her family to care for. Georgette was known as Memere to her grandkids, who she enjoyed teaching French words and sayings to.
She loved and was so proud of her large family. She leaves her daughters; Joanne and Erik Olkkola of Ashburnham, and Rose Jacobs of Fitchburg. Sons; Norman and Debbie Champagne of Lunenburg, Paul and Hollie Champagne of Phillipston, and Charles and Maryanne Champagne of Fitchburg. Son-in-law; John Lagasse and Nicole Buswell of Fitchburg. She leaves behind 16 Grandchildren; Terry (Marty) Meigs, Stacy (Joshua) Wages, Erica (Jonathan) Berube, Sarah Olkkola, Mark (Sara) Champagne, Lynn (Adan) Alicea, Alyssa (Chuck) Mooney, Mathew Champagne, Heather Champagne, Greg (Michelle) Champagne, Lisa (Ramon) Paskell, Kim (Dennis) Walsh, Angela (Jason) LeBlanc, Stephanie (Felix) Martinez, Michelle Lagasse, and Christine Lagasse. 21 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She also leaves her sister Germaine Melanson. She was predeceased by her daughters Nancy Lagasse and Rachel Mongeau, grandson Jeffrey Stone and brothers Marcel Boisse and Francis Boisse.

Family and friends will gather to honor and rememeber Georgette for a period of visitation on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA from 4:00pm until 6:30pm. A funeral service will take place promptly at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date.
