Jane Sullivan Obituary

Sullivan, Jane A.Jane Ann Sullivan, 55, Macungie Township, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Jane was born May 13, 1959 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Robert and Joan Helman. She attended Liberty High and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1981 and an MBA in Finance from Temple University in 1991. She began her career employed as a Production Engineer with Honeywell, Inc. and later worked at Lutron Electronics as a Manufacturing Engineer. For the past several years she has been employed as a Teacher's Assistant with the East Penn School District at Eyer Middle School. Jane was active in the community, focusing mainly on causes that supported her primary focus - her family. Through the course of raising her children she has volunteered at St. Thomas More School and Christmas Bazaar, supported local charities, was the Treasurer of the Hornet Hoops Club at Emmaus High School for 4 years, involved with Autism awareness and fundraising, the Lehigh Country Club swim team, and the Lehigh Valley Lightning basketball team. She currently was tutoring middle-school students in math and science. Jane was a beautiful, caring person, mother and wife whose entire focus was to support the growth and development of her children and help others. She accomplished so much in the short time she was with us. All of which was done in her quiet, unassuming style. Survivors: Survivors include her husband, P. Brian Sullivan, and her three children Christina, Tim, and Julie Sullivan. She is also survived by her mother, Joan Helman of Bethlehem and her sister, Carol Geissler of Middleton, DE. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert. Services: Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 7 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 474 Vine St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be private. Arrangements, Pearson Funeral Home, www.pearsonfh.com Contributions: May be sent to St. Luke's Hospice, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

I was so sad to learn about Jane. I was on the interview team at Honeywell when she applied for a job. I, too, was an engineer from Lehigh and had been working at Honeywell for several years when Jane applied for a job. I don't know why, but I always remembered her name and smile. I've interviewed many people and don't remember a thing about them but Jane was different. She was quiet, sincere, determined, smart and had a great smile. She was really nervous during our interview so I tried to help her relax! I knew the person after me was going to be a tough interview and I wanted her to come across as confident and strong. From time to time, I'd wonder what happened to her. I knew she'd have a terrific future ahead of her. Although I knew she attended Lehigh, I didn't know she was from Bethlehem. I hardly read the paper, yet I read the paper the day of her announcement and immediately remembered her name and photo. I suppose it was fate to have read the announcement. She really didn't change after all those years. And, after reading the other messages, I see she grew up on the avenues and now I live on the avenues after moving to Bethlehem over 20 years ago. If it isn't too much trouble, would you kindly tell me where Jane grew up? The coincidences are surprising. I wish I had the chance to know Jane better at Honeywell. However, I left Honeywell about a year after she started working there. What a wonderful person and employee she was. The world has lost an incredible woman. My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you. Judy Swartley [email protected]

Dear Sullivan family. I was friends with Jane at Liberty, she hung around with a group of us in the band, she may have mentioned the "Click", as our group of friends was often referred as. Upon reading Jane's obituary, I have to say it was a very fitting description of Jane, she was always a wonderful person, beautiful on the outside but more importantly beautiful on the inside. I haven't seen Jane in over 25 years but I remember her fondly, always reserved, quiet and unassuming but full of warmth towards others, touching the hearts of her friends, like a warm summer breeze gently embracing your soul letting you know her love and warmth. Her smile was endearing , a gateway to her very quiet unassuming personality, a glimpse of what lies behind her smile, a compassionate, caring and loving human being. Im glad to have known her as a friend, she will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with your family and may God embrace Jane with his warmth as she embraced all of us with hers. With deepest sympathy , Ed Cann

Although I had not seen Jane in many years I will always remember her friendship very fondly from Kindergarten through 12th grade. From the time we were brownies with our Mom's running the troop to the times she took me to the Jersey shore to spend time with her and her family to being in the Liberty High School Grenadier Band together. I will always remember her kind and gentle nature. She never had an unkind word for anyone. Although I had not seen her in a long time I still considered her a dear friend. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Helman and Carol. And to her husband and children whom I never had the pleasure to have met. God Bless. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to her family, whom she loved so deeply and dearly.

I am very sorry to hear of Jane's passing. Please accept my condolences. Jane spent a year in my classroom working with students with Autism. There was always a SMILE on her face. She was such a friendly, hard-working, and positive person to work with! Words can't even express how saddened I am to hear about her passing.

To Christi, Tim, and Julie,
Your mother worked with me when I lost my Father. It was a very hard and trying year for me. Seeing your mom everyday always distracted me from my pain.
Hold tight to the memories for comfort, lean on your friends for strength, and ALWAYS remember how much your mother cared for you. Although no words can really help to ease the loss of your mom, just know that you are all very close in everyone's thoughts and prayers.
