John J. DeCarolis
of Leominster, WWll Vet; 88

LEOMINSTER -- John J. DeCarolis, 88, of Leominster, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

He was born on November 19, 1925, in Leominster, MA, was the son of Loretto and Loretta (Selli) DeCarolis. He graduated from Leominster High School, and then went on to graduate from New School of Art in Boston.

He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, having served in Central Europe, with the 698th Field Artillery Battalion, and earned the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the European African Middle East Campaign Medal.

He worked for R.C.A. in Burlington, MA, as a graphic artist. John was a member of St. Anna Parish and also attended church masses at St. Leo's Parish in Leominster, and the Leominster Art Association, and the Chelmsford Country Club.

John's family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Leominster, and the staff at C.C.U. at Leominster Hospital for the care and compassion he and his family received.

Mr. DeCarolis is survived by his brother, Anthony DeCarolis of Leominster; two nieces, Donna Boivin and her husband, Kevin of Leominster, and Mary Ann Thompson and her husband, Robert of Florida; a nephew, Michael DeCarolis;

a sister-in-law, Betty DeCarolis wife of the late Mario DeCarolis.

DeCAROLIS -- John's funeral will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. A calling hour will be Monday, August 11, 2014 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Care Center of Leominster, 370 West St. Leominster, MA 01453.
