Jorma Eskola Obituary
Formerly of Fitchburg, MA, Army Vet; 68
TREADWAY, TN -- Jorma Mattias Eskola, 68, of Treadway, TN, formerly of Fitchburg, MA, was called into God's glory on Monday, July 21, 2014.
Jorma was born in Finland and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1958. He attended and was confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church in Fitchburg. He was educated in the Fitchburg Public School system, where he was an avid baseball and basketball player. He attended Fitchburg State College.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970 and served in Vietnam. On his return from Vietnam, he married his wife of 43 years, Lynda Mary Humphrey.
He established Eskola Roofing in 1972. His varied interests included bee keeping and building and maintaining an apple orchard, and he was also the Fire Chief of Treadway, TN, where he built and equipped their first fire station; but Jorna's greatest passion was for his Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda M. Eskola; his sons, Jon Eskola, Benjamin Eskolaa, and Jacob Eskola; his daughters, Elizabeth Burdick and Sarah Escola; his sisters, Ellen Cunha, Linda Forte, Maiju Balas, Vuokko Theisen and Marja Warakois; as well as 21 grandchildren.
Jorma was predeceased by his parents, Lempi and Joonas Eskola.
Donations may be made in Jorma's memory to the Finnish Center at Saima Park.
