Michael Marchand Obituary
LEOMINSTER - Michael Joseph Marchand, 70, passed away on Sunday June 14, with his wife, daughters, son-in-law, his brothers, and close family at his bedside.
He was born on August 7, 1949, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Maurice and Lorraine (Charron) Marchand.
Mike worked for years for 21 years for Foster Grant Company and he had worked his way to a Supervisor's position in the Plating and Assembly Departments. He was a 1968 graduate of Leominster High School, and a member of its Hall of Fame. He was a star athlete in High School and his pitching was famous, and he was known as "Iron Mike".
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Valeri (Amico) Marchand, his daughters Gina Bernard and her husband Mark, and Sara Marchand and her longtime friend Keith Hast, his brothers David, Richard, James, and Thomas, many brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mike and Val had many children that they cared for and considered family.
He was predeceased by his daughter Carla Angela Marchand.
MARCHAND - Because of current restrictions Mike's calling hours will be limited to his immediate family, and his Funeral Mass at St. Leo's Church will be by invitation only. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
THE CURLEY MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 89 West St., Leominster is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: The Leominster High School Athletics Hall of Fame, 122 Granite St., Leominster, MA 01453.
