She was born on July 28, 1924, in Fitchburg, daughter of the late Horace and Bernadette (Levesque) Couturier. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and attended Stevens Business College in Fitchburg.
Her husband of 53 years, Kenneth L. Hedstrom, died on Oct. 7, 1998. She was also predeceased by one brother, Horace Couturier Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Diane B. Hedstrom of Jaffrey, N.H., and Phyllis F. Bates of Henderson, Nev.; a grandson, Kenneth Marrama of Henderson, Nev.; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Couturier of Gardner; three sisters, Jeannette McMaster of Worcester, Pauline Lemoine of Ashburnham and Lucille Robillard of Leominster; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hedstrom was a founding member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster. She was a past president of the Leominster PTA, and served on the building committees of the North Leominster and Leominster high schools. She was also a past president of Jaffrey-Rindge Senior Citizens for several years, and was a communicant and lector of St. Patrick Parish in Jaffrey, N.H.
Her volunteer work included helping to rehabilitate the very seriously young disabled in Fitchburg. She has traveled with her husband to many Lions International Conventions throughout the world, and helped her husband in the Lions Club. Most recently, she made tote bags to raise money for Haiti.
Her hobbies included sewing, needle point and making clothes, dolls and stuffed animals for family and friends.
She has been a resident of Jaffrey, N.H., since 1983, and had previously lived in Sterling and Leominster.
HEDSTROM -- A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main St., Jaffrey, N.H. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor, officiated. Contributions may be made, in her memory, to the Activities Fund at Good Shepherd Healthcare Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
