Nicholas Davidowicz Obituary

Kind and helpful, humorous and intelligent, Nicholas "Nick" A. Davidowicz, most recently of Fitchburg, MA, left this world too soon on July 18, 2022, in a fatal traffic accident at the age of 31. He is dearly missed by all his family.

Nick was the second of identical twin sons born at Worcester Memorial Hospital on May 21, 1991, to Karen A. Shattuck, of Fitchburg, MA, and David Davidowicz, of Framingham, MA.

From the outset of his rambunctious youth, Nick lived life with humor and action, taking up snow skiing and street hockey, and occasionally offering to cross-check anyone willing to play along. Nick's boundless energy never fizzled when it came to helping others throughout his years. Turkey Hill Middle School recognized Nick with a certificate for "Helping the most students learn how to play chess!" He participated for years in the Crocker Chess Club and Tournaments with his brother. In high school, Nick participated in two weeklong mission trips with his brother and grandfather to help those less fortunate. During his college years, Nick greatly enjoyed working with students at the Boys and Girls Club in Leominster, where he was known for teaching Lego Robotics.

From his early outings with his father and brother on fishing trips, and his adventures on family vacations, Nick developed a lifelong love for the water. He loved power boating and sailing. He belonged to the Community Boating Program on the Charles River in Boston when he lived in Newton, and also sailed with his family often in the Boston Harbor area. Nick also enjoyed water skiing, swimming in lakes and diving over, under and into waves at the ocean.

After graduating from Lunenburg High School in 2009 where he was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Nick attended the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Fitchburg State University, and graduated from the Green Jobs Academy in Framingham in 2011. In his career, Nick showed his range of talents first with a hammer and saw in the green energy industry, then later with a keyboard in the computer industry.

Nick was a favorite visitor at family and friends' homes during his many trips around the country. When dining out or eating in, his favorite foods included guacamole, fruit, shrimp, bread and chewing gum. He dabbled in the stock market and cryptocurrency trading. For entertainment, Nick maintained his strong dislike of bowling, and instead pursued bicycling, kite flying, online gaming, LAN parties and live techno music performances.

Nick is survived by his mother, Karen Shattuck and her partner Bryan Bedard, both of Fitchburg, MA; his father, David Davidowicz, of Framingham, MA; his twin brother Peter, of Santa Clara, CA; his sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Eric Fandel, and their children, Charleigh and Wolfgang "Wolfie," of Lancaster, MA; his maternal grandparents, Jane (Woodruff) Shattuck and Willard I. Shattuck, III, of North Port, FL; his aunts Martha Davidowicz-Conway, of Tempe, AZ, Ellen Conley, of Scarborough, Maine, and Deb Szabo, of Boca Raton, FL; his uncles Charles Shattuck, of St. Petersburg, FL, and John Conway, of Tempe, AZ; his cousins Margarita, Natalya, Paige, Jeri, Shane and Haley, and his niece Hannah and nephew Joshua. Nick is preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Alfred and Lois Davidowicz, of Scarborough, Maine.

There will be a Celebration of Life at The Parish of Christ Church, 569 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA, on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Massachusetts, 365 Lindell Ave., Leominster, MA 01453; and/or to the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts Inc, 331 Montvale Ave., Suite 200, Woburn, MA 01801-4675. Nick is remembered with love.
