Richard Charles (Sieler) Barbieri, Sr.
Died: December 15th, 2014

ASHBY -- Richard "Dick" Charles (Sieler) Barbieri, Sr. 73, of Ashby, MA loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Nephew died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, December 15th, 2014. Dick was predeceased by his loving wife Marie (Brideau) Barbieri. He leaves his children, Richard C. Barbieri, Jr., Darren Johnson, Kimberly (Barbieri) Porter & Susan Barbieri. Also left were his siblings Tish Jay, Julie Redden, Jodi Rachkovsky, Stan Sieler and his two granddaughters Makayla & Amanda Porter. Dick was born in Bell, CA, traveled the world in the 1960's while serving on the USS Bang SS-385, a U.S. Navy submarine which served as the basis for his top selling book "Smoke Boat Sailor" available on Amazon.

Dick has lived in many locations including Singapore, California, Hawaii, Washington, South Dakota, New York, and Massachusetts. He attended Pearl Harbor Intermediate School Honolulu, HI from 1955-1957 and graduated from Charlestown, MA High School Class of 1960. Dick then attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA from 1965-1967 where he obtained an Associates degree in Electrical Engineering. Later he attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering, followed by a Masters degree in Business from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. Dick was a pioneer in the field of Quality Management and Control. He is a respected Fellow member of the American Society of Quality (ASQ) and has written many innovative books and training materials on quality control and management. Fellow Membership is an honor bestowed by other ASQ Members. A Fellow represents the upper echelon of the quality profession and serves as the backbone of the ASQ.

Dick was a lifelong teacher and worked as a Senior Graduate Lecturer in the Masters Degree program in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University. Dick was well known as an entrepreneur and was the founder and President of both The Quality Improvement Network and Barbieri Quality Registrars where he helped hundreds of companies worldwide. He was a Consultant at SQA Services, Trainer, Auditor & certified on-line Lecturer, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management Systems for Medical devices and Pharmaceuticals. Most recently, Dick was a Vice President of Quality at Foxx Life Sciences. Dick was a devoted and caring family man who enjoyed spending time with his family, teaching & playing the 5-String Banjo, fishing, sailing, and camping. He was a man of great integrity, was an extremely hard worker, and always helped those in need. His incredible sense of humor was second to none. Dick was a source of great inspiration and provided many with loving & wise advice and guidance.

BARBIERI -- Calling hours for Dick will be held on Friday December 19th 2014, from 9:30-11:00 am at Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster, MA. Services begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a burial with military honors in Evergreen Cemetery, 357 Main Street, Leominster MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net.

We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and all SUBVETS and their families have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Richard will always be remembered as a “Brother of the Phin” and a great Patriot.
