The world has lost another stubborn Frenchman, who was stubborn in all the best ways.
ASHBURNHAM - Roger Francis Lemoine, 91, passed away on January 26, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on March 30, 1930, and he lived a full and amazing life. Roger was the youngest son of the late Lexie (Gelinas) and Anthony Lemoine and was raised by his grandmother, the late Alma Gelinas, whom he loved dearly.
Roger is survived by his wife, Pauline (Couturier) Lemoine; three daughters, Lexie Shea and her husband Tom, Liza Peterson and her husband Mark and Pamela Marble and her husband Steven; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Ethan, Nathan, Brittany, Rachel, Tyler and Olivia; and two great-grandchildren, Colin and Abby.
In 1952, Roger married Pauline Couturier of Fitchburg, MA and together they were married for 69 years. They built their home and raised their family in Ashburnham, MA and it became the family's gathering place. Roger and Pauline had a love that survived all hardships and even near the end, they took care of each other. They spent their last moments together at the same nursing home, in rooms across the hall.
Roger and Pauline traveled the world together and Roger loved to share his stories with anyone who would listen. They went on three cruises, drove across the country twice and visited 47 states. They even traveled to Canada, Niagara Falls, and Paris, France. Back in Ashburnham, Roger loved to sail on Lake Winnekeag in his little red sailboat he called "The Holy Spirit."
Mr. Lemoine, or "Papa," as his grandchildren called him, worked for 35 years with The Seth Thomas Clock Company as their superintendent before moving on and working with Moduform. Over the course of his career, Roger became an avid collector and fixer of clocks. He always kept them running, much to the dismay of those with two working ears. He was a long-time member of NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors). After he retired, he spent his time fixing clocks, tending to his lily garden and spider plants, and watching western movies, specifically those starring Tom Selleck.
Roger's family would like to thank the staff at the Life Care Center in Leominster for all the support and care that they provided in the last month before his passing.
This obituary was written with love by his granddaughter, Rachel Marble.
