Ruth was born in Fitchburg on April 5, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Irma (Filtz) Scanlon. She has lived in Ashburnham for more than 35 years.
Ruth worked for many years as an administrative secretary at Fitchburg State College. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1942. Ruth was an avid gardener her entire life. She loved reading and was well known for her baking and cooking. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ruth leaves her husband of 61 years, Raymond C. Schrader; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Schrader of Stow, and Harry and Barbara Schrader of Ashburnham; her sister, Mary Cunningham of Etna, N.H.; her daughter-in-law, Janet Schrader of Ashburnham; her sister-in-law, Louise Shepard of Fitchburg; five grandchildren, Conn Schrader of Malaysia, Richard Schrader of Lakeville, Saul Schrader of Quincy, David Schrader of Stow, and Kristin Greenwood of Glens Falls, N.Y.; two step-grandchildren, Liz MacWhinnie of Concord, N.H., and David Cayen of Chicopee; several nieces and nephews; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her son, Thomas Schrader, died Sept. 22, 2002.
SCHRADER -- Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Monday, May 14, at 11 a.m. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 130 North St., Leominster, MA 01453, or to Diversified V.N.A. of Health Alliance 25 Tucker Drive.
