of Lunenburg, was optician and restaurant owner, active at Fitchburg Lodge of Elks; 78

LUNENBURG -- Vincent "Vinny" G. Belair, of Lunenburg, born August 3, 1934 in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late Vincent L. Belair and Lillian Hogg Belair, passed away Friday, August 31st, 2012, at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

For many years, Vinny was the licensed optician and owner of the Fitchburg Optical Shop, and later entered the restaurant business as owner and manager of Cappy's Bar and Grill. Vinny was an active, lifelong member and past officer of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks.

He loved life and will always be remembered for his generosity to the Lodge, his friends and his family. When younger he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, horseback riding and dancing. Camping and traveling became his interests later in life. Vinny was a graduate of Fitchburg High School's Class of 1952.

He leaves his wife Bella Reyes Belair and his four daughters, Karen Belair and her partner, Elayne Campos of Waltham, Kim Belair of Greenville, NH, Kyle Belair and her husband, Mark Wirtz of Pepperell, MA, and Karla Belair of Holiday, FL.

He also leaves his sister, Gail Belair Karkutt and her husband, John of Hampton, NH; grandchildren, Hannah Wirtz of Pepperell, MA, and Jason Renda of Reading, MA; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Renda of Reading; and many nieces and nephews.

Vinny remained a friend to his former wife and mother of his four children, Barbara Belair Little of Holiday, FL, and will be greatly missed by loving friends, Jim and Judy Halligan and their family.

BELAIR -- Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg on Wednesday, September 5, from 4-7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Burial will be private at a later date. A reception will be hosted by the Fitchburg Elks at their lodge, 860 Ashby State Road in Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vinny's name to the Elk's Scholarship Fund, Fitchburg Lodge of Elks, P.O. Box 902, Fitchburg, MA 01420. A very heartfelt thank you to the Summit Elder Care Program and staff. Your commitment and compassion will never be forgotten.
