Bernhard Maier Obituary

Bernhard Maier passed away on March 9, 2021 from complications after suffering a stroke in January 2021. He was born to Barbara and Karl Maier on March 5, 1935 in Wildberg, Germany. Bernhard was raised in Germany where he met his wife, Cornelia. They married in 1963 and had a son before emigrating to Southern California in 1965 for a job opportunity with Mercedes Benz in the Parts Division. Early in his career with Mercedes Benz he travelled to countries all over the world. After their daughter was born they eventually settled in Severna Park, Maryland until the present day. Bernhard worked as the general manager of the Mercedes Benz Parts Division in Hanover Maryland until his retirement in 1994. Bernhard loved to fish, ski and play tennis. He also played soccer as a young man. He enjoyed listening to classical music and had a strong interest in politics which helped urge him to eventually become a dual US/German citizen so he could vote. Later in life Bernhard was very involved with mental health organizations and became a board member at Omni House in Glen Burnie. Most of all Bernhard loved his grandchildren and looked forward to weekly visits with them. He attended many of his grandson's soccer games and loved to talk to him about the game. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cornelia Maier of Severna Park; his daughter Karen Haskell (Mike) and their two children Garrett and Arianna of Pasadena; and his son Stephan of Glen Burnie.
