Melvin Weisberg Obituary

Dr. Melvin Howard Weisberg

Merritt Island

Celebrating the life of Melvin Howard Weisberg, "Mickey," December 25, 1932 - December 1, 2015. Mickey departed this life for his eternal rest Tuesday at Weusthoff Hospice House Rockledge, FL. Mickey Weisberg was born in Philadelphia, PA to the loving parents of Abraham and Ella Weisberg. Mickey attended Temple University, went on to Podiatry school and surgical fellowship. Mickey was one of the first to pioneer vein treatments in the state of nation. He had a thriving practice in Merritt Island, FL, with a sign in the lobby that read, "No patient will ever be denied treatment due to financial circumstances".

Mickey served in the United States Army during the Korean War as Master Drill Sergeant and in the Reserve. He trained boys not only how to be soldiers but how to be men. To the best of his knowledge, he was proud to say that all of his men came home. Mickey was most proud of his son, Adam Jon Weisberg (wife Cheryl) and his daughter, Elizabeth Allyson Weisberg Diaz. He was a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren: Jensen and Addison Diaz, Jared and Carly Weisberg. He was preceded in death by Georgia Frances Truitt and Jeanne Schwartz.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday December 6th, 2015, at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home Chapel. Viewings at 11:00 am and services begin at 1:00pm.

We all want to remember that The Good Doc, Mickey, had a good life, a great laugh and, "A Good Turn At Bat".

So sorry to hear of Mickeys passing. My father and Mickey were first cousins. My grandmother was Emma Weisberg who was the sister of Mickeys father.I spoke to Mickey several years ago to tell him of my father's passing
Mickey told me of a picture that hung on his wall for years of my father and him and other cousins at the Latin Casino from way back

I met Mickey as a young girl once in Florida back in the 70s when my father was working there. Mickey invited us to his house in Coca Beach. I remember there was a boat and a lake there. Through the years my father always use to ask about Mickey and eventually when Mickeys sister Rita died we knew Mickey was still around. I got the phone number to contact Mickey. When my father called Mickey knew it was a voice from Philadelphia. They swapped old stories and laughed

Maybe their both swapping stories now. My father always spoke highly of Mickey.

He will truly be missed.

Sincerely with sympathy Melanie Holtzman
