Robert Connor Obituary

ROBERT CONNOR, Sr. MELBOURNE Robert A Bobby Connor went Home to be with the Lord on Monday December 11, 2006 after a short illness. Bob was born and raised in Polk City, Florida. He came to Melbourne in 1952 to build the Brevard Drive-In Movie Theater. He saw the opportunities that the Space Coast held and returned to Polk County. He bought a Drag Line and a pick up truck and moved to Melbourne to go into the Land Development and Paving Business (Robert A Connor Inc) for 54 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann; four children, Rob Connor Jr. (Janet), Rick Connor (Debbie), Doug Connor (Pam) and Beth Allen (Marty); eleven grandchildren; and six great-grand children; two broth ers, John L. (Maybell) and Rudy (Bernice); a sister, June (Jack); many nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt, Blanche. He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. And Mary Arrie Connor and sister, Dot Guthrie (Frank). Bob was honored with many awards for service to our com munity. Among the awards were The Commanders Award from the Civilian Military Council, The Norm Keller Distinguished Serv ice Award from The Melbourne Jaycees, The Lion of the Year Award from the Eau Gallie Lions Club and may others for supporting youth baseball and football. Bob was the perpetual good Samaritan. He was always will ing to help his fellow man in any situation. He was loved by all and will be forever missed. Services will be held at Eau Gallie First Baptist Church on Friday December 15th. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to11:30 a.m, with the funeral starting at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contribu tions may be made to the Challenge to Build Fund at Eau Gallie First Baptist Church. To the Connor Family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Connor. He touched so many lives in the Eau Gallie Community. I have many fond memories of Mr. Connor from my childhood. Bobby will be missed in the Eau Gallie and Melbourne area. He certainly had a part in the construction of most of it. Bobby was a gracious man as I witnessed his caring for his Mother, Granny Dorton, his Sister, Dot, and know how he loved his Wife, Ann, and their children.

Bobby was "a good ole boy" and we need a lot more like him to replace this precious man and his values.
