He was such a great band director. I played clarinet at Jefferson and he taught my Mom music in Alabama. He had a great appreciation for all kinds of music and I still remember the lessons that he taught me, Jazz music, Blood Sweat and Tears Music, ..... I will remember your family in my prayers.

My heart and prayers go out to the Walters Family. Mr Walters rest in peace. You made us all love music and learn respect. You were a big piece of who I am today. My dad loved making you "snack crack pop" as you put it! My mom dad and I have you in our thoughts and prayers and speak of you often. Make you look down upon us and bless us as you did with your leadership when you were here on earth. Sorry we did not make the memorial service. Our hearts go out to you all

Dear Walters' family, you have my heartfelt condolences. Mr. Walters was my very first band director when I was a 5th grader at Mila Elementary, trombone no less! All these years later...I'm a grandmother - and still playing trombone with joy and enthusiasm, always grateful for the wonderful gift of music he gave to us.

Mr. Walters was a SAINT! Imagine teaching a huge classroom of 7th graders to read music for the first time and play an instrument! Not only that, he taught all the instruments! He was truly gifted and remembered by so many. Rest in peace, Mr. Walters and here's to an eternity of heavenly music.

Mr Walters had such a powerful, positive impact on my life. I was so lucky to be a band member at Jefferson Jr High from 1972 through 1975 (school years) when he retired. I will ALWAYS remember him with the most admiration, love and respect. We are so much the less without him, and heaven is so much the better with him. Rest easy, my dear friend....
