Steven Huss Obituary

Steven John Huss

Palm Bay - Steven John Huss, the greatest Papa in the world, passed peacefully on December 26th, 2020 in Palm Bay, FL at the age of 69.

He was born on October 7, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Steven John Huss and Elizabeth Joyce Gerdin Huss.

After graduating from De La Salle High School in 1969, Steve proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). His service took place during the Vietnam War where he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base at Subic Bay in Manila, Philippines and honorably discharged June 16, 1976 after 4 years.

Steve also proudly served his community exceptionally as a police officer for Satellite Beach, FL from 1980 to 1986 and police officer and crime scene detective in Palm Bay, FL for 17 years thereafter.

Steve enjoyed the game of hockey, fishing, rooting for his home sports teams, watching police shows, sending funny memes, always the jokester, sharing amazing stories, and always loved visiting with friends, reuniting with fellow brothers and sisters in blue, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son Steven John Huss III, daughter Melanie Bradley and husband Nick, and 7 grandchildren Alexandra, Steven the IV, Austin, Angelique, Jade, Norah, and Nolan; sisters Elizabeth Ann Yerks and husband Loren, Cecilia.

He was preceded by sisters Katherine and Teresa.

Respected by his community and co-workers, friends to us all, this honorable selfless man of integrity will always be walking the thin blue line, cherished forever.

Friends are welcome to visit from 12 pm until his Funeral Mass at 1 pm at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 5330 Babcock St., NE, Palm Bay on Saturday January 2, 2021. Steve will be receiving both US Navy and Law Enforcement honors.

I was one of Steve's FTO's when he joined PBPD. He and I developed a bond during those 4 weeks that lasted into retirement. He called me Fish 'n Chips, and I called him Huss 'n Fuss.

I am so sorry for your loss Steven, Melanie and all of your Family. I will never forget your Dad, he helped me when Michael was sick and also on the day that Michael passed away. Your Dad gave his time without even being asked, he was a selfless man. He will always have a special place in my heart. I know he is an Angel in Heaven.

So sad and sorry to hear about his passing. He was one of the nicest people I know and I know he was a great father and wonderful grandfather to all his grandchildren. The Fuentes Family are truly sorry for your loss. No matter where he is, he will always be watching over all of you. Our deepest sympathy. Miriam Fuentes
