Vincent Slomin Obituary

Dr. Vincent Slomin - Melbourne - Dr. Vincent E. Slomin, 88, died on Monday, January 26, 2009 at his second home in Melbourne FL. Dr. Slomin was born in Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania, he was a US Navy World War II veteran, a graduate of the New York University, class of 1951 and of Albany NY Medical College, class of 1956. Dr. Slomin served his internship and residency at Pawtucket RI Memorial and had a family practice in Seekonk, MA before his retirement in 1985 to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Dr. Slomin was a lifelong member of The American Academy of Family Physicians. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Slomin was on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts chapter of The American Academy of General Practitioners, representing North Bristol County. Dr. Slomin was a school physician in Seekonk, Massachusetts and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid fisherman and sailor. Dr. Slomin attained a "Hole in One" in golf in October of 1997. His family includes his devoted wife of nearly 65 years, S. Barbara Slomin; son, Dr. Vincent E. Slomin, Jr.; daughter, Jaime A. Slomin and her husband, Fred Cato; son, Dr. Glenn R. Slomin and his wife, Deborah; and his grandchildren, Stacia Slomin, Randolph Slomin, Lauren Cato and Melina Cato. Services will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, US Hwy. 1, Melbourne on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM, followed by a gathering of celebration of his life at his son's home in Melbourne Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a Vitas Hospice, 4450 West Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934. Arrangements by South Brevard Funeral Home, 321-724-2222.
