Al was born October 28, 1948, in Ogdensburg, the son of Otto L. and Anna Corrice McDougal. He graduated from Morristown High School. Al began employment at the paper mill at Star Lake. In the early 1970s he moved to Clifton Springs when he became employed at Kodak in Rochester. Working for 4 years at Kodak, he left employment there to work for Timberline Electric. Eventually he left Timberline and Al worked with a local contractor for a couple of years, before starting and operating McDougal Construction. He was an extremely skilled craftsman and enjoyed for over twenty-five years working as a residential contractor building custom homes and several log homes. Al was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and trapper. Al's real passion was hunting! Most importantly he was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by wife of 41 years, Marilyn; sons, Chris (Eileen) McDougal of New Milford, Conn., John (Tanya Lewis) McDougal of Waterloo, and Kevin (Julie) McDougal of Victor; grandchildren, Corinne, Ryan, Bret, Garrett, Zachary, and CJ McDougal; brother, Ronald McDougal, Utica; and many nieces and nephews.
