Carl Poormon Obituary

WATERLOO - Carl F. Poormon, 82, passed away peacefully on Mon. (April 9, 2012), at Geneva General Hospital.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Carl's life from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun., April 29, at the Waterloo Sportsman's Club on Edwards Rd.
Contributions may be directed to the Waterloo Sportsman's Club P.O. Box 269 Waterloo, N.Y. 13165, or the American Red Cross 83 W. Bayard St. Seneca Falls, N.Y. 13148.
Carl was born on Nov. 26, 1929, in Fayette and was a son of the late Asa and Ethal Ida (Kidd) Poormon. He married Sherry E. Comiskey on March 26, 1972. Carl was a member of the Waterloo Sportsman's Club, Elks Club and the Fayette Fire Dept. He served on the board of directors and was a manager of grounds and maintenance for the Seneca County Agriculture Society (Seneca County Fair), for over 40 years. In 2008 Carl was awarded, "volunteer of the year," for all his hard work and dedication. He owned and operated Carl Poormon Trucking and was known for his homemade sausage.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherry E. (Comiskey) Poormon of Waterloo; daughters, Kathy Poormon of Willard, Diane (John) Bodnar of Turin, N.Y. and Nancy Kingston of Rochester; step-daughters, Diane (Tom) O'Brien of Waterloo, Terri (Bernie) Long of Romulus and Rhonda (John) Dickenson of Seneca Falls; brothers, Leroy (June) Poormon of Waterloo, Ralph (Jean) Poormon of Junius, Benjamin (Kathy) Poormon of Mesa, Ariz., Eugene (Jean) Poormon of Waterloo and George (Nancy) Poormon of Waterloo; sisters-in-law, Cathy and Barbara Poormon, both of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Carl was predeceased by his sister, Mary (John) Linebarger and brothers, Donald and Edwin Poormon.

While I did not know Carl, I still want Diane Bodnar to know that I share her sadness. Losing a father, at any age, is not an easy thing. He sounds like he lived a long, good life, and was a very good man.
