Carol Countryman Obituary

HURON - Carol E. Countryman, 73, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday (April 18, 2015).
Her family will receive friends Sunday (April 26) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, 5025 Main St., North Rose, followed immediately by a memorial service in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Rd., Lyons, N.Y., 14489 in her name.
Carol was born March 12, 1942 in Sodus, N.Y. She was a graduate of North Rose High School and SUNY Fredonia with concentrations in education and music. Her broad career path took her from elementary education, to administration at Keuka College and finally as the Victim's Assistance Counselor in the Wayne County District Attorney's office. Each step was in service to others and she continued that dedication in retirement, serving in various health care advisory positions and quietly lending a hand or a shoulder to people who didn't know where to turn.
Carol is survived by her son, Michael; three brothers, Harold (Lucille) Smith, Jr., David (Sally) Smith, and Philip (Suzanne) Smith; granddaughter, Kirstin (Peter) Mein; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Haley, Brooklynn, Lillian and Damon.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold Sr. and Jennie Smith; sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Ralph Bliek.

AM TRAVELLING, AND JUST LEARNED OF CAROL'S PASSING. TO ALL THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS, I SEND THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS YOUR WAY. CAROL DID MUCH GOOD AND HER LIGHT WILL CONTINUE TO SHINE.

April 27, 2015

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Countryman family during this sad time. Many years ago, Carol played an important role in assisting my son during a difficult time. While working for the Wayne County District Attorney's office, her willingness to help us and her tireless effort helped to clear my son's name and made a tremendous difference in his life. She was an amazing woman and I have always been deeply grateful to her. I hold your family in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you can find some comfort in knowing how many lives she touched.

It's amazing how a friendship can form from ordering stickers from thousands of miles away! I am blessed to have called Carol my friend. We were always sending each other silly t-shirts and care packages. She was a sweetheart who will be greatly missed.
