GENEVA - Carol Anne McLellan Daniels, lovingly known as "CC", passed away peacefully in Frederick, MD on September 15, 2025, with her children by her side. She was 85 years old.
Carol was born on April 4, 1940, to the late William and Ruth McLellan. She spent her childhood on her parent's dairy farm on Hall Road in Geneva and working at their market, Mello Rich. An avid sailor under the expert guidance of Tom Parkman, she enjoyed sailing for the Seneca Yacht Club.
A graduate of Geneva High School and the University of Buffalo, Carol met her husband, Jack, during her college years, and together they shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage. As Jack's career as a high school and college football coach took them across New York, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina, and Maine, Carol built welcoming homes, cultivated lasting friendships, and supported him wholeheartedly. Carol was accomplished in her own right, holding roles such as manager of Lake Monticello Golf Course in Virginia, administrator of the WIC program at the University of Virginia Medical Center and Vice President of the Colgate University Women's Club. While their journey took them far and wide, Geneva was always home. Carol and Jack retired there in 2017. Longtime supporters of all things Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Carol and Jack could often be found in the stands on Saturdays in the fall cheering on the Statesmen.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Jack; her brother, William McLellan; her sister and brother-in-law Janet and Bruce Knowlton. She is survived by her children, Donna Daniels, Jill (Pat) O'Connell and Tag (Adrianne) Daniels; her grandchildren and great grandson; her sister Donna (Wes) Bernhardt and several nieces and nephews. Carol is also survived by her dear friend, Judy Wethey, who together held a friendship that spanned over 80 years.
Carol had a remarkable ability to leave everyone she met with a smile. She had a quick wit and playful sense of humor and wanted nothing more than to make anyone near her laugh and feel loved. She had a keen sense of the game of football and enjoyed spirited political conversations.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 24 Park Place, Geneva, N.Y. Burial will be immediately following in Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva. A private viewing will be held at the family's discretion.
Carol will be dearly missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her. "She was made for happy thoughts, playful wit and laughter".
