Casey Middlebrook Obituary
Casey was born on July 30, 1968 in Rome, New York to Norman C. and Patricia Middlebrook. Shortly thereafter, Norman and Patricia moved to Phelps, where Casey spent most of his childhood. Those from the area may remember the good-natured chaos that the Middlebrook crew caused on Banta Street from time to time.
Casey graduated from Midlakes High School and married his high school sweetheart, Robyn. Not long after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in San Francisco where he proudly served on the U.S.S. Samuel Gompers as an EN2. Casey was awarded various medals throughout his time in the service, including the Navy Achievement Medal.
Following his service in the Navy, Casey and Robyn moved to Newark and started a family. Casey worked as an Elevator Mechanic and spent his entire career at Downey-Goodlein Elevator Corp. (which was later acquired by KONE). Casey retired from the company and was enjoying his retirement.
Casey was an avid reader, film buff and a great chef. He frequently experimented with new recipes, which his family always enjoyed. You could not find a friend better than Casey. He was a loyal and thoughtful friend who would always give you a laugh. Most of all though, his greatest joy was his family. He was his happiest when spending time with family and loved traveling with them.
Casey was predeceased by his parents; brother, Shawn; and nephew, Patrick. He is survived by Robyn Middlebrook; daughter, Emily (DJ) and sons, Stevie (Angela) and McKenna; brother, Rusty (Michelle) and sister, Sheila (Scott). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please hug a loved one and tell them that you love them.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 29 at St. Francis Church in Phelps. The family will receive friends at 12 p.m. at St. Francis Church until the time of the service at 1 p.m.

I served with Casey in the US Navy aboard the USS Samuel Gompers and what a pleasure it was to be able to say he was a great friend. I recently was able to be re-connect with Casey the last 2 years and was so nice to talk once again. Had many very nice conversations and a lot more laughs. Gonna miss you my friend. In loving thoughts and condolences to your family you will be missed very much you Irish leprechaun. Fair winds and Following sea Shipmate!!!!

I served with Casey on the USS Samuel Gompers and was happy to have reconnected due to Facebook. We talked often, sometimes for hours. I remeber laughing a lot, as most recently as last month. I'm shocked and very saddened that we will not have those phone calls again. My heart goes out to his children, Robyn and extended family as well as his other shipmates that are currently feeling the same loss.
