CAMP HILL, PENN. - Christian L. "Chick" Siebert, Jr., 99, of Camp Hill, Penn., passed away on Friday, (January 16, 2015) at West Chester, Penn.
A memorial service will be held at New Covenant Fellowship, 4500 Creekview Road, Mechanicsburg, Penn., on Saturday (January 31) at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or any charity, Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill, is handling funeral arrangements.
Chick was born in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania on January 12, 1916, the son of Christian L. and Nell E. Jenkins Siebert. He was a graduate of Camp Hill High School and the former Pennsylvania State College. Before World War II he was employed as an engineer with General Electric Company in Massachusetts. He was a captain in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving for five years in World War II. He was then employed by the Pennsylvania Sanitary Water Board, later the Department of Environmental Resources, and retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of New Covenant Fellowship (PCA), West Shore Lodge #681 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, National Sojourners, The Keystonians, Camp Hill Post 43 American Legion, Cumberland County Historical Society and Historical Society of Camp Hill, and was a volunteer at Holy Spirit Hospital for 15 years. He was an Eagle Scout and was active in Boy Scouts for over 50 years, was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 52, Camp Hill, for 10 years, a member of the Order of the Arrow, and received the Silver Beaver award. Chick was known for his interest in electric traction, he was author of several books in this field and received the Master Model Railroader award of the National Model Railroad Association and a number of awards from the East Penn Traction Club of Philadelphia for his scale models of trolley cars. In recent years he alternated living with his sons in Geneva and West Chester.
Chick was the widower of Katharine Springer Siebert. He is survived by two sons, Karl J. (Ti) of Geneva, N.Y., and Paul C. of West Chester; three granddaughters, Trina Siebert (Tim Brandis) of Portland, Ore., Sabrina Siebert of Sebastopol, Calif., and Beth Illian (Paul) of Coatesville, Penn.; great- grandchildren Jackson Morris and Audrey Illian of Coatesville, and Oscar Brandis of Portland; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Natalie A. Froehlich of Hampden Township, Penn., and Marjorie E. McCaulley of Westfield, N.J. and their husbands.

We have lost a thorough historian, an exquisite craftsman and a true gentleman. Chick was a valued friend to the modeling community and to the preservationists at the state's trolley museums.

I was honored to have known him and enjoyed his company on a number of occasions, whether it be a tour of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Railway territory or a sandwich and a brew at Appalachian Brewing on the Carlisle Pike. My wife and I were always happy to welcome him to our home when he came to Western Pennsylvania to visit the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.

I had been seeking for his layout for years, when I met Dick Steinmetz, who made a call, and Chick opened up the layout for us. There were many visits after that.
