Christopher Seely Obituary
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p..m Monday (July 10) at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 11) at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 2050 Rte 245, Stanley. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Chris' unparalleled ambition, drive and determination awarded him many grand achievements in such an unfortunately short life. His love of all things mechanical led him to an early career in racing flat-track motorcycles with his dad, traveling circuits and ultimately finishing as #2 in the Canadian National amateur rank at the age of 16. Making the transition to automobiles, he dabbled in drag racing, and planned to race his sprint car this summer. His brilliance stood out as he became a master engine builder, learning alongside his brother under the guidance of their dad at Seely Engine Machine.
Chris' restless nature brought him to all corners of the country, after purchasing his own Kenworth and car trailer. He was unstoppable and had dreams to move to Texas. The untimely passing of his father, Steve, in 2015 brought him back home. Never one to back down from a challenge, Chris stepped up to rebuild his father's shop after the fire on Old Mill Road. With his grit and fortitude, he began Seely Motors, and built up the business to what it is today.
He is survived by his mother, Mary; brother, Mat (Jenny Snyder) of Stanley; and sisters Sarah (Mark) Phillips of Geneva and Gracie (Kyle) Kuhner of Naples. He had two nephews Jeffrey and Ryan Phillips; a beloved niece, Kova Kuhner; grandparents Jim and Dorla Seely; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Steve Seely, in 2015; and grandparents Bernie and Kathy Celso.
Chris was a true friend and loved his family deeply. An encyclopedia of knowledge, a talented young man and an inspiration to anyone who was lucky enough to come in contact with him. Chris will be greatly missed and impossible to replace. He lived for his dreams and not for the rules.
