Debbie Storer Obituary
She was born on May 4, 1955, in Syracuse. She grew up in Trumansburg and Penn Yan and graduated from Penn Yan High School. She worked as a customer service supervisor in Fairport for many years before her entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch several small businesses. She was incredibly talented and made elaborate costumes for her children when they were young for school plays and Halloween. Debbie loved sports and enjoyed playing in a softball league with her mother and sisters. She was a true Upstate New York fan with an unyielding devotion to the Buffalo Bills, a passion she joyfully shared with her family. Debbie also loved Thoroughbred Horse Racing and never missed a race on television or passed on the opportunity to spend the day at Finger Lakes Racetrack with family members.
Debbie was the beloved daughter of Marie and Ira Sherdel Smith and is survived by her mother; her husband of 37 years, John Storer III; her four children, Paul Hopkins and wife Carrie, Kellie (Hopkins) Johnson and husband Vince, John Storer IV and fiancé Bridget Whitehair, and Erin Storer; her siblings, Sherrie Smith, Wendie (Smith) Cohick and brother-in-law Mark, Julie Smith and brother-in-law Chris Koppenheffer; as well as by her grandchildren, Mason, Vinnie, Noelia and Naelyn; and nieces and nephews Lindsey, Benjamin, Cameron, Katie, Jack and Luke.
Debbie's greatest joy came from annual beach vacations with the entire family and getting together at family events. She will be deeply missed.
A private memorial gathering will be held on Keuka Lake, where she loved to spend time with everyone.
Debbie displayed kindness and compassion for all living things and cherished her many pets.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ontario County Humane Society, Happy Tails 2976 County Road 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
