Doris L. Leonard

GENEVA- Doris L. Leonard, age 85, of Geneva passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 16, 2024 at Geneva General Hospital.

At Doris's request there will be no services, burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Doris was born on September 2, 1938 in Geneva the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence Plumb McGuigan. She graduated from Geneva High School and worked for many years at the New York Telephone Company, Village Store and McCurdy's.

Besides her own children, her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Her pride and joy was her great-grandson, who filled her heart with so much love and who was responsible for putting the "sparkle" back in her eye.

Family meant everything to Doris and, as far as she was concerned, made her life complete. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for family. She was selfless and generous and kind and fun! She loved family get-togethers and especially, a good party! Most of all, Doris loved to talk! She was friendly and out-going and enjoyed striking up conversation anywhere she went with anyone she met.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Michael) Robson of Stanley and Michael (Pamela Hinssen) Leonard of Waterloo; grandchildren, Molly Robson and Megan (Collin) Ayers both of Stanley, Arison (Beth) Herman of North Carolina; great-grandson, Lincoln Ayers; brother, Richard (Suzanne) McGuigan of Geneva; sister-in-law, Carol McGuigan of Geneva; several nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Robert "Sheedy" Leonard; brothers, James (Diane), Glen (Shirley) and Robert McGuigan; sister, Shirley (Robert) Hefferon; niece, Linda Rowles and a number of very special close friends.
