Earnest Lee Boyd

1936 - 2022

NEWARK/ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Earnest "Earnie" Boyd, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 25, 2022) at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Fulfilling Earnie's wishes there will be no calling hours or memorial service. Friends may join the family for a graveside service at a date and time to be announced.

Earnie was born the son of the late Elmer and Lola Boyd on August 30, 1936, in Lindside, W.V. Earnie worked for several places over the years, including Schlitz Beer Co. as a truck driver and Pruitt Upholstery Shop, both in West Virginia. He moved to Newark, N.Y. in 1965, accepting a job at Penn Central Rail Road Car Shop, as a crane operator. Earnie worked for the Phelps/Clifton Schools as a bus driver and mechanic. He retired after 32 years.

After retirement, he and his wife, Carol, moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., and joined the Elks Lodge and the Methodist Church, where they volunteered for many jobs. They enjoyed traveling, camping and working with the youth at church. Earnie and Carol volunteered with the police department in the car parking regulation department.

He is survived by four children, Kenneth Boyd (Donna) of Newark, N.Y., Lori Ellsworth (Bob), Debbie Feiock, and Lisa DeCook (Mike); eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, James Noble Boyd (Marjorie) of W.V.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Boyd in 2017; son, Bobby Lee Boyd; and one sister, Iva June Wickline.
